Want to know what to expect when you contact us about your oil tank removal?
Oil tank removal is something that not everyone has to deal with. Chances are, you may not know anyone who can give you a candid “this is how it went” rundown of steps, so we want to share what you can expect when you contact us about your oil tank removal. If you are not yet sure if you have an underground oil tank, be sure to check out this page.
Step One - Who will you hire?
Shore Systems Group L.L.C. is the best local company to hire! When you’re ready to call us (732) 747-1112, we will ask you several questions to help us discover some very important aspects of your oil tank removal project.
Is it an above-ground oil tank or an underground oil tank?
If it’s above ground, is it inside or outside, and is it easy to access? When we think of easy access, what that means to us is we can bring in our appropriately sized machines, equipment, materials and tools to get the job done without extra work preparing for the work.
We may ask you to text or email us a picture of the tank “work area”. In some cases, we may need to schedule a visit to see the work area.
Our goal is to provide you with a TRANSPARENT estimate. We include any variables that we observe or discover and we include that in our proposal.
We are confident we provide fair pricing for the quality of services and highly experienced and trained personnel that we provide.
Step 2 - Permits, Utility Markout, Scheduling
Once you agree to and sign our estimate we will begin the administrative tasks that are a part of any heating oil tank removal in New Jersey. We will promptly schedule your tank removal once the municipal permit has been issued for the work.
Every tank removal in NJ requires a municipal construction permit from the municipality of the property where the tank exists. We submit the permit application by mail* within 48-hours of receiving your signed contract. *We can expedite this process by hand-delivering the permit for an additional fee. According to UCC municipalities have up to (21) business days to process permit requests. We do not have any ability to speed up the process. We have seen some towns approve them in days, and some cities taking up to the 11th hour or more. We are happy to make one follow-up call on your behalf. If we have any concerns about permits needing additional project management time we will include that in our estimate.
Utility markouts are required by NJ law for any excavation, and we request this free service on your behalf, in the appropriate time frame for your anticipated excavation. The utility companies operating in your area have three (3) business days to respond to our request to locate underground utilities. This includes PUBLIC under utilities only. If you have things like a sprinkler system or septic tank, these are PRIVATE utilities and it is your responsibility to mark them for us prior to our arrival.
Step 3 - Tank Removal Day (let’s ease your mind)
We recognize that our environmental construction services are typically needed and not “wanted”. We really do our best to provide a professional experience and we hope you will be satisfied with your choice to hire Shore Systems Group for your oil tank removal project. We have references and we are happy to provide them.
